Citizen Science

If you want to learn more about smart city technologies for independently measuring environmental data, this Open Lab evening is just the right place for you. This workshop will introduce the Citizen Science Toolkit senseBox, the senseBox Bike and the online world map openSenseMap.

The participants collect data together, interpret it and discuss the importance of "open data" for political participation and social development. Using the JavaScript programming language, live data from an environmental phenomenon at a specific location is visualized from the openSenseMap. In this way, everyone will explore and make visible the meaning behind the abstract numerical values.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

-> Basic understanding of sensor technology and environmental data

-> Importance of citizen science and open data

-> Understanding and working with openSenseMap data

-> Basic knowledge of Javascript programming

-> Understanding and applying data visualization
