Amyl and The Sniffers was founded in Melbourne in 2016 and attracted attention from the start with their energetic creativity. They also quickly made a name for themselves internationally with their explosive live concerts.
Amy Taylor (vocals), Dec Martens (guitar), Gus Romer (bass) and Bryce Wilson (drums) wrote, recorded and released their first EP Giddy Up in just 12 hours. The EP Big Attraction followed in 2017, which included tracks such as the rousing I'm Not A Loser, the stomping Oi punk song Westgate and the raw energy of Mole (Sniff Sniff). Inspired by Australian rock, rap and 70s punk, the band developed their own sound from the start: short, fast, loud and humorous.
In 2018, Amyl and The Sniffers performed for the first time at The Great Escape and were celebrated as one of the hottest acts there. This was followed by signing deals with Rough Trade Records and ATO Records, an appearance at the SXSW festival and the release of their self-titled debut album in May 2019. This album, which was created between two tours, brought hits such as Some Mutts (Can't Be Muzzled), Got You and Monsoon Rock.
At the end of 2020, the band worked on their second album, Comfort to Me. During a period of isolation, songs were created that were musically inspired by rock icons such as AC/DC, Rose Tattoo and Motörhead, modern hardcore such as Warthog and Power Trip and Australian greats such as Coloured Balls and Cosmic Psychos.
With Comfort to Me, the band took a big step forward. The album shows Amyl and The Sniffers more powerful and determined than ever before and was acclaimed by critics around the world.
