Conductor Sofi Jeannin has designed a program dedicated to classical French modernism. The focus is on Le Cantique des Cantiques by Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur, a work composed in 1952 for twelve vocal voices based on biblical texts from the Song of Songs.
In contrast, Francis Poulenc sets surrealist poetry by Guillaume Apollinaire and Paul Éluard to music in his Sept Chansons. The program is rounded off by compositions by Lili Boulanger and Cécile Chaminade.
