Read by Jens Harzer & Marina Galic
Botho Strauß's latest drama is an archaic-anarchic theater text about the first king of the Israelites: The people long for a leader of flesh and blood. God reluctantly grants their wish and appoints Saul as king, a "crooked, mentally ill man."
In honor of his 80th birthday, Jens Harzer and Marina Galic read the text, which was already celebrated at the Salzburg Festival - and thus also introduce themselves to the Berlin audience before becoming part of the Berliner Ensemble next season.
