More Christmas markets are also opening this weekend, bringing colour and light into the grey season. In addition to beautifully illuminated gardens, many of Berlin's large Christmas markets are now waiting for you. The Christmas market in Spandau is particularly impressive with its atmospheric setting in the historic city centre and its charming mix of traditional atmosphere and festive offerings. While the Christmas market in front of the Rotes Rathaus (Red Town Hall) in Mitte is particularly popular with fairground lovers. The Advent market at Ökowerk is a little cosier and the Swedish Christmas market at the Kulturbrauerei welcomes you with Nordic folklore, glögg and cosiness.

The beautifully illuminated gardens at Tierpark and the Botanical Garden await you next weekend. Take a relaxing stroll along illuminated paths and be enchanted by fascinating illuminations, impressive lights and twinkling stars. By the way: both gardens are open until the New Year.

Immerse yourself in a glittering sea of lights and enjoy a contemplative and relaxing walk along the illuminated paths of the Botanical Garden Berlin. Here you can leave the Christmas hustle and bustle of the city behind you and enjoy the magical glittering world. And of course you will also find some culinary Christmas treats such as mulled wine, hot chocolate, roasties, quark balls and much more.

Experience sparkling illuminated animals, illuminated paths and immerse yourself in a breathtaking sea of lights at Tierpark Berlin. The park shines in festive splendour and will make you forget the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season for a while. After your walk, you can round off the evening at the ice rink in the middle of the illuminated zoo. Exercise keeps young and old warm. And of course, hot drinks and treats are also on offer.

Christmas market "Berliner Weihnachtszeit" at the Rotes Rathaus
The Berlin Christmas season begins when the Christmas market around the Rotes Rathaus opens. On the one hand, the medieval market around St Mary's Church invites you to enjoy freshly baked bread and mead in clay jugs, and you can listen to the Christmas story in the church. On the other hand, fairground enthusiasts will also get their money's worth here: ice skating, carousels and a panoramic Ferris wheel provide fun and a wonderful view over the whole market. There are also culinary delights and a heated mulled wine bar, where you will be entertained with an exciting programme.

Don't miss the opening of the Spandau market on 25 November from 5 pm. The Big Band of the Zollkapelle Berlin will be playing in front of Spandau Town Hall to ring in the festive season at the Christmas market in Spandau's old town. The atmospheric backdrop of the old town and the numerous huts with craftspeople and handicrafts offer you the opportunity to buy your first Christmas presents. As every year, you will find the beautiful pyramid and the Christmas tree decorated with countless lights as landmarks of the market. The Little Christmas dream at Spandau Town Hall is well worth a detour. The neighbourly atmosphere here creates a very special atmosphere. And of course, food and drink is also provided here and there are also small stalls with traditional offerings.

Lucia Christmas market in the Kulturbrauerei
Nordic folklore, Swedish cosiness and Scandinavian arts and crafts will once again create a very special Christmas atmosphere at this year's Lucia Christmas Market in the Kulturbrauerei: Stroll around the cosy market in the courtyard of the historic building and look for your first presents in the pretty wooden stalls, enjoy Scandinavian treats and choose from a seemingly endless selection of glögg varieties. If the warm drinks aren't enough for you, you can simply slip into the open-air coat heater or visit the mobile travelling yurt. The Luciafest is traditionally celebrated on 13 December. Let yourself be carried away when the bringer of light parades across the Kulturbrauerei grounds with her entourage of star boys, candle bearers, gnomes and gingerbread men and Swedish and German Christmas carols are sung.
