The soprano Ducksoon Park-Mohr, accompanied on the piano by Markus Wenz, will sing German and Korean art songs, among others. The two have worked together for over 30 years and have given countless song recitals in Berlin during this time.
The first Korean art songs were written just over 100 years ago, when Western music began its triumphal march in Korea and Western music composition was then taught at universities.
Ducksoon Park-Mohr, studied singing at the UdK, master classes with Edith Mathis, Agnes Giebel, Walter Berry, years of work with Prof. Walter Olbertz. Radio and television appearances, CD productions, international musician meetings, appearances in “Troldhaugen” (Norway), interpreter of the songs of the Norwegian composer Edvard Hagerup-Bull in honor of his 80th birthday, song recital for the 50th anniversary of the Cheongam University in South Korea, in 2008 she received the award from the Korean Prime Minister.
For 16 years she has organized a Korean cultural evening in Berlin as a benefit event to bring Korean culture and lifestyle closer to people in Germany.
She began Korean calligraphy and Asian painting over 17 years ago. Today she is a certified master. The Korean script, a world cultural heritage, is fascinating on the one hand because of its clarity as a letter script, but on the other hand it is very flexible in use. The writing and the images are applied with brushes on extremely thin paper made from mulberry trees.
Markus Wenz, studied in Hanover and Berlin. Further studies in Vienna, Lucerne, Salzburg, Nice and others. Participation in the song interpretation classes of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aribert Reimann, Berlin. Solo and chamber music engagements in France, Austria, Russia, USA, among others. Radio recordings and CD productions. Teaching in Berlin, including at the University of the Arts, the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music and the music schools in the Spandau and Mitte districts.
