The gallery DER STURM was a venue and hub for the networking and promotion of avant-garde artists. The name STURM was the program and symbolized the radical break with bourgeois norms and conventions.
The two artists Jacoba van Heemskerck and Nell Walden played a key role in shaping the expressionist movement around the gallery DER STURM and the magazine of the same name.
The guided tour uses selected works from the Berlinische Galerie's collection to shed light on the significance of the two women for the art scene of the early 20th century.
