Theaterhaus Berlin Mitte

Where theatre is made

With much going on: some 320 pieces are produced here annually. It also provides rehearsal space for other fringe theatres and you're even invited to check out public rehearsals.

Here you can experience theatre in its original form: creative and at ease! Independent artists have long known the advantages of this venue for the performing arts, theatre, and dance. The central location in the heart of Berlin and the inexpensive rehearsal spaces speak for themselves. Workshop stage 003 is available for all sorts of events and rehearsals.

Theaterhaus Berlin Mitte was founded in 1992. It moved around frequently in the intervening years until it opened its new space at Wallstraße 32 in 2009.

Young and innovative artists collaborating with experienced professionals

Theaterhaus Mitte is equally popular with young artists and graduates as with established directors and actors. The charm of the old building puts everyone under its spell. Young artists get the chance to present their work in public for the first time. Inspired by the new generation and the special working atmosphere, many established professionals also use this unique environment for revivals and productions.

Spectators welcome

Every second Monday of the month, rehearsals on workshop stage 003 are open to the public. You can attend these rehearsals free of charge and give the artists direct feedback with your applause. Whether it's contemporary performance art, spoken theatre, or dance, the wide range of productions is sure to offer something for every taste. Events and premières are on the theatre's calendar each month.

A place of encounter

Work with international partners has turned the Theaterhaus into a centre for intercultural encounters. Once a Communist-era school building, the Theaterhaus offers space for independent artists to share their first experiences, collaborate on ideas for new projects, and find partners for the next great idea.
