Musical fairy tale in an own stage adaptation after Wilhelm Hauff

Like every day, Jakob accompanies his mother to the market to sell the vegetables and fresh herbs they have grown themselves. But when a strange old woman feels everything and sticks her nose into everything, Jakob gets annoyed. He reluctantly follows her request to carry the shopping to her house. When he gets there, he is offered a soup that takes him into a dream that lasts seven years.

During this time, Jakob learns numerous secrets of cooking and becomes a master cook. But outwardly he turns into a hunchbacked dwarf with an unusually long nose. When he finally returns home, his mother does not recognize him, and at the market he becomes the laughing stock of the people.

Eventually he finds employment with a duke and his wife, where he can demonstrate his exceptional cooking skills. A goose that he saves from the cooking pot becomes his secret ally. It helps him to meet the ever-increasing demands of the duke and his wife.

Together they finally manage to escape the increasingly angry duke.
