Opening of the Month of Contemporary Music

This year’s Month of Contemporary Music will open on August 31 at the Kühlhaus Berlin with the
festival »Intersecting Encounters«. For this event,
Dell-Lillinger-Westergaard, vocal artist Sofia Jernberg, the Sonar
Quartet, pianist Tamara Stefanovich, the Trio Catch and members of
the Zafraan Ensemble come together. The artists meet in a variety of
configurations and explore the boundaries between composition and
improvisation, between closed and open form, between instrumental and
vocal music.

The programme combines new co-compositions and existing works by Berg, Bertrand, Chin, Dell, Ivičević, Jernberg, Lillinger, Odeh-Tamimi, Schönberg, Sonar, Stefanovich, Webern and Westergaard, among others.

Additionally, the artists will give an insight into their collaboration in two short talks. In between and after the concerts, there will be time for dialogue, snacks and drinks in the spacious Kubus and in the courtyard of Kühlhaus Berlin.
