NoonSong - Song & Prayer

Touching choral music from England and France - Anglican choral music can be heard in this NoonSong. With his psalm models,
the great Edward Elgar placed himself squarely in the tradition that stretches
from Tallis to Stanford.

The Frenchman Charles Gounod also composed for English cathedrals. Gabriel Jackson's setting of the liturgical texts will be heard for the first time in NoonSong. The multi-award-winning English composer is inspired by Tippett, Stravinsky, but also by soul and blues.

  • Preces: Richard Lloyd (1933-): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 137 Colin Mawby (1936-2019): A song of exile
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 68 Edward Elgar (1857-1937): Double chant
  • Canticum: Charles Gounod (1818-1893): Magnificat
  • Choral: Johann Crüger (1598-1662): Jesus lebt, mit ihm auch ich
