NoonSong - Song & Prayer

There are close links between the composers featured in this NoonSong,
and not just in terms of time and geography. Samuel Scheidt was a pupil of the
great Sweelinck in Amsterdam for several years and became one of the most
respected organists and composers in Halle, where he worked. Melchior Franck, a
pupil of Hans Leo Haßler, worked in Coburg and died there destitute after many
strokes of fate.

  • Preces: John Bertalot (1931-): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 91 Melchior Franck (1579-1639): Wer unter dem Schirm des Höchsten sitzt
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 43 Samuel Scheidt (1587-1654): Richte mich Gott
  • Canticum: Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621): Magnificat
  • Choral: Philibert Jambe de Fer (um 1515-1572): Ich lobe Dich von ganzer Seelen

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music lovers and admirers of architecture alike attend NoonSong. It is a concert and a church service in equal measure.  Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin, led by Stefan Schuck, sing choir music. The repertoire ranges from music from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions.
