Vernissage

Werkstadt e.V. is showing photographs by 18 young people from Berlin and Marseille.

These works were created as part of photography workshops sponsored by Canon. The young people thus had access to the best equipment, which enabled them to capture their everyday lives and the attitude to life in Berlin and Marseille.

The motifs range from friends and sports to the colorful environment in Marseille and Berlin, both of which are among Europe's most migrant-influenced cities.

This diversity is also reflected in the works of the young people, who had little to no photographic experience before attending the workshops. In addition, the Franco-German Youth Office financed a trip for each of the two youth groups, which helped them to get to know the neighboring country through photography. This facilitated access to photographic art.

The photos have a further function: the pictures are intended to show the other youth group, which barely speaks the other's language, a world that could hardly have been described with their limited knowledge of the language. Because sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.
