In music buisness of the present day germany a man named Sebastian appears, who looks like the composer Bach. Among other things he knows the missing part of the unfinnished "Kunst der Fuge". He becomes friends with the failed Alto singer Tatjana and her son Ruben and works as a funearl organist.

After many entanglements Sebastian lives in a retirement home for composers. There the other residens ask him to compose an opera because its the only thing Bach hasn't written. With the struggle about this composition and its premire a expediton through music history and the world of music drama starts.
