Çaystube as part of the Pop-Kultur Festival in Berlin

The Çaystube, conceived as a performative installation, serves as a space for experience and deceleration for a queer, decolonial and post-migrant coexistence in the midst of the lively festival events.

Since its first installation in 2019, originally created as part of Pop-Hayat, the concept has been further developed annually as a commissioned work and adapted to the new circumstances and needs of the visitors.

The program of the Çaystube in the courtyard of the Kulturbrauerei is freely and free of charge, which enables low-threshold access for a broad and diverse audience.

As a safer space, it offers space for exchange and encounters. In addition to its social and political aspirations, the stage presents a diverse cultural offering. Of course, the Çay, as a symbol of hospitality and shared experience, cannot be missing and is offered unlimitedly and free of charge.

This year, the artists EsRap, Jenys and bangerfabrique will perform live, complemented by DJ sets by Krista Papista and DJ Zuzanna Czebatul. The latter is also part of the project "Die Vielen", a cross-border network of various cultural institutions and artists that campaigns against misanthropy, right-wing extremism and attacks on artistic freedom. In this spirit, posters of the "Kunst bleibt viele" campaign against fascism are hanging in the Çaystube this year.

The Çaystube is curated by Yeşim Duman.
