Resonant songs from Paris, the cradle of polyphonic European vocal music. A musical treasure from the Berlin State Library is being brought to life again by the solo ensemble VOX NOSTRA, which specializes in the music of the Middle Ages.

The library contains numerous fragments of monophonic and polyphonic vocal music from the world-famous Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, which were discovered in 1993 when the music departments from the two parts of the city were merged. They contain resonant monophonic to three-part compositions with motets, organs, conductus and songs with Latin and old French texts from the time of the Parisian masters Leonin and Perotin.

VOX NOSTRA, under the direction of Burkard Wehner, is presenting these songs to a wider public after more than 700 years.

With Winnie Brückner – soprano, Philipp Cieslewicz – alto, Pedro Matos – tenor, Werner Blau – bass-baritone, Tobias Oliver Hagge – bass, Burkard Wehner – baritone and musical direction
