On Museum Sunday, families can meet real-life representatives of the rural population of that time in the medieval heart of Berlin.

Two visitors from the surrounding area come to the big city. The occasion is Thanksgiving time: Farmer's wife Zlata and farmer Bogdan want to lay their gifts of thanks at the altar in St. Nicholas Church and ask the priest for a blessing for the family, the farm and the village. But they have to wait for him because he is currently hearing the confession of a rich merchant family. So Zlata and Bogdan pass the time waiting in front of the church, where they marvel at the crowds of people and like to tell the city dwellers about the busy life in the village. Of course, there is no shortage of gossip and exciting stories from the country.

The Machandel storytelling theater (Silvia Ladewig and Oliver Kube) takes young and old visitors to the Nikolaiviertel into the rural world around the year 1230 with plays and fairy tales. Short scenes and conversations give a vivid impression of the everyday life of the farming families of that time.
