World premiere

The dance performance CARNE (Flesh) sees physicality and encounter as the starting point for resistance, healing and change, which harbor a potential that goes beyond Western ideas and rationalities.

CARNE is an invitation into the Brazilian art movement of anthropophagy and centers Black perspectives.

With CARNE, Grupo Oito deepens its exploration of how patriarchal and racist structures manifest themselves in our bodies and our relationships, in the way we feel and think, and how these can be 'overwritten'.

Inspired by Brazil's anthropophagic avant-garde movement, the production approaches the themes of physicality, encounter and sensuality. Ricardo de Paula is a choreographer, dancer, performer and artistic director of Grupo Oito.
