A guided tour with mediator and filmmaker Fabian Fornalski

Why do images move in cinema and television? When did images learn to speak, and which special effects techniques were used in film in the past? Young visitors will receive answers to these and many other questions about special effects and film technology during a guided tour of the permanent exhibition.

This tour, specially developed for children, begins with the German film pioneers, wanders through the early years of German cinema and explains the beginnings of sound film. Using films such as the silent film classic Metropolis, the technique of frame-by-frame animation is illustrated by hand.
