Eine Deutschstunde von Cem Kaya feat. Ekİm Acun alias ŞOKOPOP

In 1983, 23-year-old Cemal Kemal Altun threw himself from the 6th floor of the Berlin Higher Administrative Court. Despite the military dictatorship in Turkey, the German Interior Ministry had appealed against his asylum decision, which had already been positively decided.

Filmmaker Cem Kaya, known for his award-winning documentaries such as Aşk, Mark ve Ölüm (Love, D-Mark and Death), uses Cemal Kemal Altun as a starting point to examine Germany and its long-standing collaboration with unjust states in his video lecture performance.

Kaya compiles and composes a wide variety of archive material with private contemporary documents. He retells not only the legal history of Germany in a performative, unsparing and biting manner.
