Guided tour of the special presentation with Ronja Blohm, scientific volunteer, SPSG

Glienicke delights me, guided tour of the special presentation with Ronja Blohm, scientific volunteer, SPSG.

200 years ago, Prince Carl of Prussia (1801-1883) proudly took possession of his estate in Glienicke and henceforth called himself "Sir Charles Glienicke" in private letters. As a special highlight, a presentation will be shown in the prince's living quarters at Glienicke Palace from 17 August to 31 October 2024.

It consists mainly of objects from the collection of Berlin collector Bernd Schmidt, which consolidate the existing exhibition and focus on cultural life in Glienicke.

The main items on display are letters from Princess Charlotte (1798-1860, married Grand Duke Nicholas Pavlovich of Russia in 1817, Tsar Nicholas I from 1825) to her brother Carl. Both siblings were very devoted to each other, which was expressed in their letters, visits and gifts.
Other artefacts from the possessions of Prince Carl and his wife Princess Marie (books, leather portfolios, a seal, a collection folder with a printed list of Prince Carl's weapons collection) will also be on display.

During the guided tour, participants will learn more about the prince's life and the objects on display.
