Portrait of a Modern Woman

Hildegard Knef: "the untouched Trümmermädchen," "the face of zero hour," "the second Dietrich. The Berlin actress with a snout, heart and mind was given many titles, including some superlatives: "the first great post-war actress," "the first German on Broadway" or "Germany's last diva.

Much has indeed been said, written, speculated and ridiculed about Hildegard Knef, who died in Berlin in 2002 at the age of 76. But who was the woman who really had three brilliant careers - as an actress, chanson singer and author?

With lyrics and her unforgotten songs, this event paints a picture of Hildegard Knef, who knew no mediocrity, led a life full of extremes and was always ahead of her time in her non-conformity, thinking and acting.
