Édith Piaf's uncompromising lifestyle and her rise from the miserable poverty of the Parisian streets to the grande dame of the cabaret - grandly embodied by Julia Kock - is part of the immortal myth. Sometimes she is intense, even fierce, then again she sings softly of the small, big sufferings of everyday life.

She is accompanied by accordionist Frank Grischek, who sings melodies from his instrument in a unique and skilful way, sometimes powerful sounds but also sounds as if he were just breathing on the keys.
