Three organists compete to improvise – based on the wishes that the audience submits in advance via social media

f there is one instrument that has gone out of joint, it is probably the organ! With its thousands of pipes, it offers almost limitless possibilities - and organists have known how to use this for centuries: they are traditionally true masters of improvisation.

Here, however, the improvisations are based on the audience's musical wishes and the performers try to outdo each other.

From hymns and Bach's famous Toccata to Helene Fischer and Billie Eilish - everything is possible.

Two combatants have already been chosen:

Thomas Cornelius from Hamburg, who as NDR's house organist knows the organ of the Elbphilharmonie better than anyone else, and Sebastian Heindl from Berlin, permanent organist of the Memorial Church since 2023 and "ECHO Rising Star".

Submit your music requests in advance via the social media channels.
