A musical biography by & with Sigrid Grajek
Claire Waldoff was the star of the big cabarets and variety shows from 1907 to 1935 - not just in Berlin. Their songs were sung or whistled in the streets by garbage collectors and millionaires. “His name is Hermann!”, “Who throws clay there?” or “His milieu” was something every child knew.

Like no other, she hit the note that touched people because she "just wanted to sing about life" - about the worries and hardships, about the joys and complications that life brings with it.
Even before the age of the "new woman" was proclaimed, she took all the liberties that came to her mind. For this she was loved by everyone. She was a bundle of energy, a mischief and sparked enthusiastic bursts of laughter. Without them, the so-called “Golden Twenties” would have been a lot poorer.
With her songs and against the background of Germany's eventful history, Sigrid Grajek reflects on her life.
