The composer, pianist and musicologist Aribert Reimann died on 13 March 2024 at the age of 88. His works – as well as his work in Berlin and German music and cultural life as a whole – represent one of the most substantial contributions to vocal music and music theatre in the second half of the 20th century, and his reputation extended far beyond Germany.

Musikfest Berlin dedicates a memorial concert to him, “In memoriam Aribert Reimann”. Berlin’s ensemble mosaik under the direciton of Enno Poppe will play some of his key works: from moving meditations on the sky to a piece for solo soprano.
