Vladimir Jurowski, conductor; Brahms / Schönberg / Adams

Schönberg and Brahms – that sounds like separate worlds. Schönberg was partly responsible for saving the high romantic for modernity. With Brahms' Tragic Overture and the American minimalism of John Adams's theory of harmony, Schönberg's songs are framed here by the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, which, precisely in its great contrast, spans the entire breadth of his music.

  • Johannes Brahms: Tragic Overture in D minor op. 81
  • Arnold Schönberg: Four Songs op. 22
