A schoolyard game: Max has no chance against Kilian and is tossed off the team. Now it will be hard to see Agathe, in whom he has fallen in love. Later, Caspar from his group follows him and promises him a magic potion that will make everything better.

Although Agathe and her friend warn Max against it, he meets Caspar one night and allows himself to be convinced to take the magic potion. The next day, it should help for the decisive match.

Using the exciting and emotional music of Carl Maria von Weber’s famous opera, director Kai Anne Schuhmacher tells a modern version of the story.

In a collaboration with schools, several numbers are prepared in such a way to invite the young audience to participate from their seats.

In this way, children eight and over can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the opera in the overwhelming atmosphere of the Staatsoper’s main hall.
