Fontaines D.C.

The History of Fontaines D.C. begins in Dublin, where singer Grian Chatten, guitarists Carlos O'Connell and Conor Curley, bassist Conor Deegan and drummer Tom Coll met while studying music at university. Bonded by their shared love of poetry, they published two volumes of poetry, from which some of their song lyrics later emerged. This rather unconventional start for a punk band already shows their tendency to do things differently than expected.

With their debut album “Dogrel” they had an immediate breakthrough in 2019, thanks to their unique fusion of dark post-punk sound with thoughtful and poetic lyrics about the Irish working class. Their second album "A Hero's Death" was released in 2020 and shows a more thoughtful and introspective side of the band - which was promptly rewarded with a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album.

The third album “Skinty Fia” followed in 2022, which deals with the band members’ move to London and their identity as Irish in Great Britain. Fontaines D.C. Here too, they remained true to their post-punk sound, but expanded it to include electronic influences. These new musical influences can also be heard on their most recently released single “Starburster”, which heralds the band’s upcoming fourth album – “Romance” due out August 23rd.

Fontaines D.C. have long since established themselves as one of today's leading post-punk bands and the voice of an entire generation.
Their concerts are energetic, thrilling experiences where no shirt stays dry.

The upcoming concerts in Germany promise to be musical highlights again, where fans will have the opportunity to experience the new songs from “Romance” live and be carried away by the band’s unique performance.
