The National Youth Jazz Orchestra for the first time at Young Euro Classic! NYJO's program "British Standard Time" presents a wealth of influences that have given British jazz its unique character.

It spans the spectrum from the 1930s and bandleaders like Ray "Snakehips" Johnson and Ray Noble to the 1960s, when Tubby Hayes and John Dankworth gave bebop a British twist.
Caribbean and South African influences from the “Windrush generation”, such as Joe Harriott and Dudu Pukwana, are also taken into account. In addition, the program presents current compositions and arrangements by members of the NYJO as well as important contemporary British jazz composers, including Nikki Iles and Zoe Rahman, which underline the vibrancy and diversity of the British jazz scene.
