Since its festival debut in 2009, the young musicians of MIAGI Orchestra from South Africa have left unforgettable impressions at every performance with their passionate devotion to music - be it European classical or South African.

MIAGI Orchestra
In 2024 they will present themselves with a full jazz band and a large percussion ensemble.
Together, the 60-member ensemble goes on a “search for African footprints”. Under the direction of percussionist and conductor David Panzl and jazz musician Markus Geiselhart, special arrangements of works by European, American and South African composers will be presented.
Among others, works by George Gershwin from the USA and Silvestre Revueltas from Mexico can be heard. Also on the program is Anders Paulsson's "Celebration Suite", which is based on South African freedom songs and commemorates the long struggle against apartheid. Compositions such as “Black Child”, “Birdland” and the Miles Davis classic “Blue in Green” round off the unusual program.
