Fragment by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Goethe's fragment from his Sturm und Drang period describes the human temptation to lose oneself in hubris, to go beyond the limits of scientifically determined behaviour, to disregard moral boundaries and the consequences of reckless behaviour in a mania for recognition and is thus an expression of both the times of that time and today.

Stylistically anchored in the theatrical means of a fairground spectacle, puppet and mask play and supplemented by live acoustic music, the production juxtaposes dramatic and comedic elements. In this way, Goethe's original, unspoilt and still raw fragment of a scene is examined for its timeless modernity and explosive content for a contemporary, diverse audience, with the aim of exemplifying the infinite nature of human flights of fancy and crashes.
