Ever Montgomery urgently needs to learn to dance for an awards ceremony. However, he detests any physical contact because the professor of geosciences suffers from Asperger's syndrome, a special form of autism.

On the advice of the caretaker, he speaks to his neighbor Senga Quinn. She is a dancer, but after a leg injury it is questionable whether she will ever be able to dance again in her life. So Ever offers her $2,153 for a dance lesson. Senga initially rejects this offer as “immoral”. But finally curiosity wins and they start the lesson. Absurd situations quickly develop between the unlikely couple, as Ever takes everything Senga says literally and panics when it comes to the first touches that are inevitable when dancing.

Mark St. Germain has written a very amusing and touching comedy about two lonely souls who struggle to keep the same beat, but eventually both become brave and become surprisingly close.
