In May, Helsinki prog metal band Wheel released their third album “Charismatic Leaders”. As you listen to the album, it becomes clear that these charismatic leaders refer to the dictators, demagogues and false idols who drive division across the globe and ignite wars in the name of self-interest. They are the clear goal of the seven songs, which describe a world that has fallen apart.

It's less about politics and more about a growing cult of personality that can be found all over the world, from Boris Johnson to Donald Trump. These topics provide enough material for an album. So it's no wonder that the riffs sound like steam hammers and the anger remains noticeable even in the quieter passages. Fans can look forward to seeing Wheel for a live show in December.
