The history of the bandoneon, which began 175 years ago in Carlsfeld in the Erzgebirge, is told using selected and moderated pieces of music. The focus of the concert cycle "Bandoneon in Duo with..." is the German bandoneon, this versatile instrument that can play everything from Bach to Piazzolla.

The concert cycle with bandoneon and instrumentalists or soloists spans a wide musical range, from early music to baroque music to classical music, to international songs, Weill and Hollaender, tango and jazz to contemporary music. The concerts tell history musically and combine musical elements from different nations, cultures and eras.

The concerts "Bandoneon in Duo with..." are part of the musical project "The German Bandoneon", which is scheduled to take place in various churches in Berlin in 2024. Using selected and moderated pieces of music, the history of the bandoneon, which began 175 years ago in Carlsfeld in the Erzgebirge, is told to a large audience.

The instrument was first used in processions and church celebrations. Because the bandoneon also created a great atmosphere at festivals and could be used for polkas and other dances, it quickly became popular.

When German emigrants brought the bandoneon to Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century, it became the instrument of Tango Argentino, marking the beginning of an unprecedented international musical success story for the bandoneon.
