Roof Speeding
Speedminton on the roofs of Berlin
"Anywhere, anytime" is the motto of speedminton players in Berlin. All they need are two bats, a "speeder" and plenty of space. There's certainly enough of the latter in Berlin: whether in the city's many parks, on the banks of the Rivers Spree or Havel or even in the back courtyards of Communist-era high-rises. Speedminton players are always looking for new challenges. Which is how they landed up on the city's rooftops. If you'd like to join in on the fun, you can get your start on a regular 5.5 x 5.5 metre badminton court, for example, at the South Beach Halle in Marienfelde. But the team also meets regularly outdoors and even at night for games of "Black Light Speedminton".
