Inglourious Basterds
For the shooting of his hit film Inglourious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino came to Germany in 2008, where he shot numerous scenes in Brandenburg and especially in Berlin. The film made Christoph Waltz an international star and earned him his first Oscar.
Fort Hahneberg in Spandau served as the location for the meeting of the Basterds and the first appearance of the Bear Jew (played by Eli Roth). The fort was the last Prussian defence installation, but it was never put into operation. Inside is also the cell of Hugo Stiglitz (Til Schweiger). You can visit the grounds on an interesting guided tour.
Café Einstein in Schöneberg, where the apple strudel scene was filmed, is unfortunately currently closed for renovations.
You can still celebrate and dine at Clärchens Ballhaus in Mitte. Maybe you'll even sit at the table where Christoph Waltz sat down as the diabolical Hans Landa. George Clooney also filmed his "Monuments Men" in the old ballroom.
