Historical market days between scene bars
In October 2011 a historic market opened its gates again in Kreuzberg’s Eisenbahnstraße – precisely 120 years after its original opening: a traditional weekly market, with all the kinds of food you can imagine will be on sale, including:
Once a quarter, your childhood dreams finally come true: Markthalle IX becomes a full-on "Naschmarkt" (snack market)! Numerous stalls showcase their sweet and savoury sweets, including cakes, biscuits, chocolates, macaroons, honeys and chocolates. Quality is key and only "good, clean and fair" ingredients in line with the slow-food concept are used here.
Besides the events already named, Market Hall Nine hosts food festivals like "Stadt Land Food", taking place every two years, as well as the "Berlin Coffee Festival", the "Cheese Festival" and the "Wurst&Bier" (Sausages and Beer).
Whether it’s the weekly organic market with fresh vegetables, milk and the aromas of freshly-baked bread, a flea market, or the lively children’s playground, this is a great spot to feel the joy of life in Kreuzberg. The streets around the Emmaus-Kirche frequently host multicultural street fairs. Learn more about Berlin's neighbourhoods with our app Going Local Berlin.
