Insel der Jugend (Island of Youth)

Not far from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can find the Island of Youth between Treptow Park and Forst Plänterwald (Plänterwald Forest). As you go over the Abteibrücke (Abbey Bridge), which is the oldest composite steel bridge in Germany, you reach the perfect spot for a picnic on the River Spree. Kulturalarm e.V., the operating company of the island, sees the place as an experimental ground for all forms of art and so there are many cultural events for young and old alike including live music every Sunday.
