Around the world, approximately 2 billion people menstruate. Over 1.5 billion more people have had or will have their period. But despite this, menstruation is still considered a taboo subject by many people.

For an estimated nearly 10 years, menstruation has finally entered the public discussion. Women are publishing period manifestos, advocating against period poverty and underuse, developing new menstrual products, or posting their experiences under hashtags like #periodpositivity and #menstruationmatters.

The exhibition presents a history of pragmatism and utopias, inventiveness and activism. It features historical and contemporary menstruation articles, presents the discourses and debates of the last decades with objects, interviews, music, film and art, and gives space to voices of menstruators.

A special exhibition of the Museum of European Cultures of the National Museums in Berlin.
