Manufacture jewelry production - man, machine, masterpiece
Not only is a piece of jewellery itself special, but also the way it is made. The German Museum of Technology preserves these production processes. In the exhibition "Manufakturelle Schmuckproduktion - Mensch, Maschine, Meisterstück" the audience can see the steps in which a piece of jewellery is created.

The exhibition focuses on the six process techniques of embossing-pressing-punching, drawing-rolling, casting, goldsmithing, guilloching-engraving and chain making. Visitors can follow step by step how a piece of jewellery is created.
The Manufacture of Jewellery in the German Museum of Technology thus offers craft, industrial and company history to look at and touch. The historical processes and craftsmanship know-how are not only preserved and documented. In seminars with students as well as practitioners from the fields of jewellery design and goldsmithing, experts pass on their knowledge.
This commitment of the German Museum of Technology is part of the cooperation project "Manufactured Jewellery Design", which in 2015 was included by the German UNESCO Commission on the nationwide Intangible Cultural Heritage List as an example of good practice.
