Here you'll find kids in thick snow suits darting over the ice, older couples doing
well-practised laps, as well as lots of young people gliding around the ice. In the winter, the
Eislaufstadion Neukölln (Neukölln Ice Skating Stadium) is a popular meeting place for local residents both old and new. The music here is mainly top 40 hits, but sometimes they play unexpected and very rousing Latino music as well.
Young and old alike show off their skating skills on two open-air ice rinks.
Watch and learn
If you're still a bit unsteady on your skates, you can also take a look at the ice skating groups in the "
unusual ice skating school". These groups train here regularly on a cordoned off area. You can learn a spin or two just by watching them. In addition, you can borrow ice skates from a counter, and have your own skates sharpened. There's also a
kiosk that sells chips and hot and cold drinks. After having fun on the ice, it's worth making a trip to the
Tempelhofer Freiheit park just a few steps away.
