Tip 1: Elephant with a balloon – Mural by Jadore Tong in Berlin Kreuzberg
In the middle of Berlin, on the way between Checkpoint Charlie and Hallesches Tor, Berlin shows its urban face. Between skyscrapers, basketball courts and 60s apartment buildints, there is a splash of color that bursts out between the facades. And puts all the other facades in the shade. Not only in Mitte Kreuzberg. Jadore Tong is the name of the artist who brought the gigantic colourful elephant to Berlin. And as colourful and lively as the design is, as empathetic is the message behind the mural, which is reflected in the lettering used: "Peace", "Unity", "Love", "Wisdom". "Safe Unity", "Playfulness", "Safe Water", "Empathy. "!"

Tip 2: The Starling – Mural by Collin van der Sluijs and Super A in Berlin Tegel
There are Berliners who never leave their neighborhood. There are Berlin visitors who only see the Brandenburg Gate. And there are those who see a giant blue bird in a photo and spare no expense or effort to travel to Berlin Tegel. Infatuated with just looking at it, they come to Artpark Tegel to marvel at the blue bird and seven other giant murals. The bird motif is a mural by Collin van der Sluijs and Super A. The brilliant colors and countless bright details make it one of the most popular street art motifs in the whole city.

Tip 3: East Side Gallery
This street art spot is so obvious that it doesn't need any research or location information to introduce it to you. But we will anyway: between Oberbaumbrücke and Ostbahnhof stretches the world-famous East Side Gallery, designed by over 100 artists. Meanwhile probably the longest photo canvas in the world. Every single section surprises with new motifs, in between there are classics like the Trabi by Birgit Kinder, or the Brother's Kiss.

Tip 4: Rainbow House in Berlin Lichtenberg
This one is a real insider tip for all photography fans in the field of architecture and urban design. A huge rainbow runs along a traffic axis in Lichtenberg, more precisely along Möllendorffstraße and Herzbergstraße. In the process, the giant rainbow connects two prefab buildings from the 70s. The visually strong contrast between concrete, straight lines and a playful colorful nature painting, makes the artwork a true pilgrimage site for photographers.

Tip 5: As Long As You Are Standing, Give A Hand To Those Who Have Fallen. – Mural by Onur, Wes21 and Herakut in Berlin Moabit
The message of the painting by the artists Onur, Wes21 and Herakut in Moabit is adorable: On display is an oversized boy and a relatively tiny elephant. At the foot of the elephant dangles a heavy, torn chain. Fortunately, the elephant is now safe, the boy is holding it tightly, protecting it. Fittingly, the writing on the wall says: "As long as you are standing give a hand to those who have fallen".

Tip 6: Teufelsberg
Have you ever been to Teufelsberg? If so, you know that the gigantic listening stadium from the cold war is absolutely worthy of camera and memory, not only because of its breathtaking construction and the decayed charm. Countless artists and taggers have immortalized themselves here. Everywhere there are small and large paintings to discover. One spectacular view follows the next, culminating in a breath-taking view over the surrounding area from the top of the tower.

Tip 7: Home is where the heart is – Mural by Adry del Rocio in Berlin Marzahn
The Mural Fest 2019 was one of the scene highlights of recent years and brought new artworks to the streets all over Berlin. Huge facades were also painted by incredibly talented artists in Berlin Marzahn. Among others, a painting by Adry del Rocio was created: with its warm colours, dreamy motifs and photorealistic paint, the mural by the Mexican artist stands out: or what do you think?

Tip 8: Steak Mural – Mural by Xi-Design in Berlin-Mitte
Berlin was a divided city. A mural in Bernauer Straße tells of this drastic experience. The wall painted here is seemingly made of flesh and blood, a knife is about to cut it. Xi-Design's depiction symbolically illustrates the division into East and West, here and there. People were separated from each other in a dramatic way. As if someone had cut through the flesh of the city.
PS: The mural was created in the course of the project "If Walls Could Talk", the white grain in the flesh results in the ground plan of Berlin on closer inspection.

Tip 9: Hof Haus Schwarzenberg – Berlin-Mitte
Right next to the gleaming, beautifully renovated facades of the intricate Hackesche Höfe you can find a rear courtyard of a different kind. Here, everything seems a bit more untidy. Everywhere artists have left their traces in the form of murals and tags, there is much to discover and even more to photograph - because what today still shines in full colour splendor can tomorrow already be painted over again.

Tip 10: Bülowstraße – Berlin Schöneberg
This address stands for street art in Berlin. In the Bülowstraße you can find the URBAN NATION Museum for Contemporary Art. The facade of the mentioned building is always redesigned in the most wonderful ways - painted, pasted or even built on. One of the highlights was when a giant octopus stretched its tentacles out of the building a few years ago.
In addition to the museum, the rest of the street is also filled with impressive murals, which, by the way, you can also partly admire from the above-ground subway as you pass by. Tip: the largest murals can be seen when walking in the direction of Park am Gleisdreieck.

Tip 11: "Phoenix" – Mural by Gert Neuhaus in Berlin Charlottenburg
Less well-known than East Side Gallery is probably the steamer that maneuvers its way out of a house facade in Charlottenburg. However, it is quite impressive. Above all, it is so realistic that the viewer has to look three times. Because the huge mural in Wintersteinstraße is designed in 3D technology and thus appears so plastic that the wall as such is hardly recognizable after all. But take a look for yourself! By the way, Gert Neuhaus, the painter behind the spectacular painting, is a true veteran of Berlin facade painting: he has been painting the walls of the capital since the 1970s.
