The new Willy Brandt Berlin Brandenburg airport ""(IATA code BER) connects Berlin to all central transport corridors in Europe. On 31 October 2020, it will initially be opened with a capacity of 27 million passengers per year. By the year 2040 it is expected to handle up to 45 million passengers.
Airlines and flight connections at the airport
The airport Berlin Brandenburg "Willy Brandt" (IATA code BER) has replaced the airports Tegel and Schönefeld. Thus, you now fly to Berlin via a central airport. For flight times and other questions, please contact the respective airline. On the airport page you will find detailed information on flights to and from BER up to three days before your flight.
Terminals 1 and 2:
With eight levels and a glass façade, Terminal 1 is the largest terminal at BER. Designed as a midfield terminal, it is located between two runways and towers above adjacent buildings such as hotels and multi-storey car parks. Here you will find ten check-in islands with a total of 118 counters, 36 security lines for departing passengers and five more for transfer passengers. Of course, you can also expect a Duty-free area and a wide range of shops, restaurants and service facilities.
Terminal 2 offers a direct connection to Terminal 1, but also has its own check-in facilities and security checks.

How to get from Berlin Brandenburg Airport to the city
As the gateway to the world, BER Airport is very well connected to the road and rail network. With its own railway station beneath Terminal 1 (Level U2), BER is directly connected to suburban and regional trains. This means that you can not only get from the airport to the city centre quickly, but also conveniently reach the area surrounding Berlin with regional and long-distance trains from the Flughafen BER - Terminal 1-2 station.
- The Airport Express takes you to Berlin Central Station in 30 minutes.
- Two new lines under the name PlusBus Airport-Region also run every hour during the week from Königs Wusterhausen via Wildau, Miersdorf and Schulzendorf to BER Airport. Express buses also run from the Rudow underground station.
- The airport shuttle BER1 of BEX Charter brings you every 60 minutes to the southwest of the city to the city hall of Steglitz. A continuation of the express bus line to the station Zoologischer Garten is requested.
- From Potsdam, the regional train line 22 runs with a travel time of just under one hour.
- To reach the city centre, take the S-Bahn lines S 9 and S 45, which leave every 20 minutes. These also stop at the Terminal 5 station.
Tip: With the Berlin Welcome Card you can travel for free on all public transport and also receive discounts at numerous attractions and sights in Berlin.To get from BER to the Berlin city center, a single ticket ABC for 3.60 Euro is required. The regular VBB fare applies without surcharge.
By car and taxi to the airport
Terminals 1 and 2 can be reached by car and taxi via the six-lane A113 motorway and the specially constructed Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg exit. Terminal 5 is best reached via the A113 at the Schönefeld-Süd junction or the B96a road, which has also been upgraded.
Carsharing vehicles can be parked for free directly at the airport in car park P4, 400 metres away from Terminal 1. Please check the possibility with your provider in advance.
Berlin Welcome Center at Berlin Brandenburg Airport
The Berlin Welcome Center is the first port of call for all visitors to Berlin who arrive at the new BER. Whether you want to book a hotel room, buy tickets, purchase the Berlin WelcomeCard or plan your stay in the capital - the expert and multilingual staff are on hand to answer all your questions. The Berlin Tourist Info is located in Terminal 1.
