Are you planning a class trip to Berlin with students aged 16 and over? We have put together a programme that not only shows you and your class the history and culture of the capital, but is also full of fun activities!
So what can you do in Berlin? Visit sights such as the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, for example. Or experience the future of the metropolitan city first-hand on an exciting urban gardening tour.
Welcome to Berlin! An exciting class trip week in Berlin lies ahead of you. After you have arrived and checked into your accommodation, there will still be some time free before dinner.
So you can therefore plan a relaxed exploratory tour through the neighbourhood in the afternoon. Thanks to our two free apps, you can easily find your way around the city. The apps have tour suggestions and lots of information about the different neighbourhoods. They are also available offline.

Book your accommodation for your class trip
In the evening the whole group will have dinner together. Fortunately, Berlin has a lot of restaurants that are very suitable for larger groups. Nevertheless, you should still reserve a table in advance so that you can relax and ensure you have enough space for everyone.

Start the second day of your class trip programme with a tour through the centre of Berlin. Stroll through the famous Brandenburg Gate in the direction of Tiergarten. From here you will have a clear view of the Victory Column with its golden figure of Victoria.
On the right-hand side you will find the Reichstag with its walk-up dome. Please register your visit in advance on the German Bundestag website. You can also book a guided tour of the whole building on this page. In the dome you will experience the first real highlight of your Berlin trip: the fascinating panoramic view over the government district and over the whole city.

The many impressions of the city will make you hungry, so why not enjoy your lunch on the go? Many of Berlin’s youth hostels and hotels offer delicious packed lunches in addition to their inexpensive accommodation, which is very practical.
Head south past the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe to Potsdamer Platz and from here on to Friedrichstraße. Here you will find the former border crossing known as Checkpoint Charlie. The Mauermuseum (Wall museum) is right next door. Also go on the Time Ride Berlin: Thanks to modern virtual reality technology, your students can experience the history of divided Berlin as if they had been there themselves. Finish your journey through East-West German history at the Palace of Tears.
Tip:
If you and your class get tired of walking, just take the bus! The 100 bus line stops at all important sights in Berlin. All you need for this is a day ticket or the Berlin Welcome Card which allows you to use all public transport free of charge.

The city is known for its colourful cultural landscape. The GRIPS Theater can be reached via the wheelchair-accessible Hansaplatz underground station. You can watch creative theatre works for teenagers here and the performances also address current events. As space in the venue is limited, you should notify the theatre of your visit in advance, if necessary.
In many theatres there are also performances suitable for non German-speaking classes.
Start Wednesday in the district of Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain and walk along the East Side Gallery with your class. The longest open-air gallery in the world was once part of the Berlin Wall. After its fall, more than 100 artists set about embellishing the 1.3 km-long concrete wall with their works of art.
From there the tour continues on to Alexanderplatz. Visit the World Clock, which displays the time of day at 146 different cities around the world. Then visit the city’s landmark: the Berlin TV Tower and show your class the breathtaking 360-degree panorama from the viewing platform, You can buy tickets here.
Visit the Berlin Global exhibition in the new Humboldt Forum and embark on a time journey through eight centuries of Berlin history in front of the impressive video panorama.
You can also plan an open-air tour of the Berlin Wall Memorial in good weather. As a piece of the Berlin Wall has been reconstructed here complete with a border strip and watchtower, you can experience how the division of Germany felt right next to the Wall. Alternatively, you can go on a Berliner Unterwelten guided tour of the city’s subterranean world.
Tip: When it’s time for a little breather, you can visit one of the most beautiful ice cream parlours in Berlin.

After dinner you can head to the black light minigolf course at the Dockx leisure centre. All of the 18 holes have been designed by artists and shine resplendent in neon colours under the glow of the black light.

You’re almost at the end of your class trip and a club night is the perfect way to bring the week to a close! The Matrix, for example, has special parties for school classes aged 16 and over on offer: the Disco D light parties.
