Guided tour with Pankow historian Sören Marotz
The Pankow historian and exhibition director of the DDR Museum, Sören Marotz, invites you to take a walk through Niederschönhausen. Starting at the castle, he gives insights into the history and changes of the Pankow district on the approximately 1.5 km long tour.
Right next to Schönhausen Castle, in the apartment building of the GDR government, which has been renovated in accordance with historic preservation regulations, participants can directly experience the transformation of Niederschönhausen into the "Zehlendorf of the East".
A few steps further, they walk past the "Städtchen" on Stille Straße with the "Städtchen", leave the "Blauer Stern" on the right and come to the former weekly market in Niederschönhausen, the second "center" next to Ossietzkyplatz.
After a walk of around 1.5 km, everyone returns to Schönhausen Castle past the Friedenskirche via the former residence of the "Permanent Representation" of the Federal Republic of Germany on Kuckhoffstraße and the small local history museum "Brose-Haus" with its special exhibitions.
