The “City of the Future” is being built on the site of the former Tegel Airport in the middle of Berlin. New concepts for urban life, living and working are being developed here on an area of 500 hectares.
With the Urban Tech Republic as a research and industrial park for green technologies, the Schumacher Quartier as a social-ecological residential area and the Tegeler Stadtheide as a huge natural and recreational area, Berlin TXL is one of the largest and most ambitious urban development projects in Europe.
The group tour provides insights into the special architecture of the site and presents the impressive st‘Architecture and subsequent use’ ructures of the former airport. The historical and architectural significance of the monument is presented in dialogue with the planned subsequent use as an innovation location.
The guided tour of the former airport is aimed at anyone who is interested in experiencing the site from a new perspective and is passionate about architecture, urban development and urban technologies.
The tours are open to educational groups, specialist groups and private visitors and offer a comprehensive insight into the past, present and future of the area.
