CONDUCTOR Christian Thielemann

A summer highlight of classical music in Berlin are the concerts at the “State Opera for All”. On Bebelplatz, in the heart of Berlin's historic center, the Staatskapelle Berlin, one of the oldest orchestras in the world, plays in the open air.

For classical music fans from near and far, it is a firmly anchored highlight in the city's cultural calendar.

Since 2007, the Staatskapelle Berlin's free open-air concerts have consistently attracted large audiences from Berlin and beyond. The special ambience of the open-air concert attracts up to 40,000 visitors every summer.

Classical music fans spread out their blankets and bring folding chairs to enjoy the music in the historic setting with a picnic they have brought with them.

Arriving early is essential as entry is free and no reservations can be made.
