Imbued with the ‘Hollywood sound’ is Erich Wolfgang Korngold's sonorous violin concerto from 1945, in which he quotes from four of his film scores - interpreted here by Gil Shaham and the DSO. Sergei Rachmaninoff's last work, the ‘Symphonic Dances’ and Lili Boulanger's D'un matin de printemps are also performed.
