An exhibition about the impossibility of being exclusively yourself. What does that mean? The work is an expression of the self and the way the self moves through its environment. Therefore, an artist's work shows the specifics of their personality and here a question arises: how much is the work shaped by the artist's choices? Probably less than we think.

What is the relationship between conscious, controlled decisions and random or material-inherent processes in artistic work? What influence do the exhibition space and the social environment have on the respective works? What dialog arises between the artist, his materials and his environment during the artistic process? The works in this exhibition explore these questions.
